Melanin Bae Skincare was born from childhood memories of love, care, and confidence. My mother and I used to visit department stores, collect samples, and fall in love with luxurious scents and skincare. I would sneak into her room, spray her perfumes like body spray, and hide them in my room because they smelled so good. Being a plus size woman was hard because of the way people treated my mother. Yet regardless of how the world treated her, she always took pride in how she would turn the other cheek. She looked good, she smelled good and she felt good. Those moments taught me that skincare wasn’t just about products — it was about how you feel in your skin.

At the tender age of 5 I started creating my own products— mixing Crisco with Pink Luster Hair Lotion and using Oil Sheen as body oil — learning what made me feel good, confident, and seen.

Years later in 2020, I turned that passion into purpose. Sitting in the kitchen with my back against the deep freezer while my mom cooked, I worked through formulas and pricing as she guided me through expenses and profits. And together, we launched Melanin Bae. I told my mom I wanted to be like Mary Kay & Avon and she said "No baby, you're going to be bigger."
